The Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game

This installment of The Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game features one of the most beautiful screenshots we ever posted. For those who saw this film recently, it's fairly easy to recognize...

....but if you haven't seen the film in awhile, then it may be a challenge! As usual, if you are not familiar with the rules to the Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie game or the prize, click here.

Good luck guessing!

GAME OVER.

Congratulations to The Tactful Typist for correctly guessing The White Cliffs of Dover ( 1944 ). Alan Marshall and Irene Dunne are pictured enjoying a handsome cab tour of London in the wee hours of the morning after a wonderful night dancing at the Queen's ball.

  1. Let's see. I think that's Big Ben in the background, so the setting is London. A hansom cab in the mid-ground and a gentleman wearing a top hat seems to indicate a late 1800's or possibly early 1900's time period. I'm going to guess Gaslight. The first version with Anton Walbrook and Diana Wynyard).

    1. Now that's a really good guess...unfortunately it isn't the right answer, but a good guess nevertheless.

That tilt of the head makes me think of my fav actress Irene Dunne. Is this still from "The White Clffs of Dover"? I haven't seen it, but thinking about Irene, i checked some photos of her films, and this dress could be what she wore in that film...

    1. Bingo! Yes, that beautiful tilted head is indeed Irene Dunne's...and the handsome fellow with her is Alan Marshall. You definitely have to see The White Cliffs of Dover, it's a wonderful story. I wrote a short post about the movie just a few weeks ago :
