The Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game

A creepy-looking man seated at a desk. With Halloween fast approaching, we thought this was a great screenshot. You know you've seen the film, but let's see how good those mental gears are at turning out a title!

As always, if you are unfamiliar with the rules to the game or the prize, click here.

GAME OVER.

Congratulations to Damsbo for correctly identifying Fritz Lieber in this scene from "Cry of the Werewolf" ( 1944 ) starring Nina Foch and Stephen Crane.

  1. This one looks familiar to me, though I'm not sure why. Could it be "The Ghoul" (1933)?

    1. Sorry, that's not the correct title....but thanks for giving us a great suggestion for a pre-Halloween film. We were running out of spook-films we haven't seen yet and The Ghoul is one of them.

  2. I don't know, but I'm fixated. Can you tell me - is that Ralf Harolde on a particularly bad day?

    1. No, it's not Mr. Harolde, but it sure does look like him in his old age. This man has a distinct foreign accent.

    1. Hmmm....if you are referring to the 1922 silent Nosferatu : The Vampyre, then sorry, that's not it! It's not the 1979 version either. Try again!

  4. To me that looks like Fritz Leiber from "Cry of the Werewolf" (1944).

    1. Yes, that's him! Did you ever see his son? He looks just like Fritz. Scary, isn't it?

  5. Exactly. When I was trying to crack this nut, I actually first happened upon his son, only to learn that he was obviously too young for this movie. When his biography stated that his father was also an actor, however, I looked him up, and... spitting image :) I proceeded to single out the movies that fit the theme, perused the most promising, and identified that room and lighting.
Coincidentally, he also looks just like my old doctor.

    1. OH my! I thought you just stumbled upon the film on television. It played on "Svengoolie" a month or two ago and when I turned on the television, it happened to be this scene of all the ones!
