It's summertime - and that means it is the season of band concerts in the park! Almost every city in America has a gazebo in the city park where band concerts are still taking place. This is a tradition that dates back quite a number of years, as you can see in this screenshot. Now the question is, what film is this from?As always, if you are not familiar with the rules of the Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie game or the prize, click here!
GAME OVER.
Congratulations to Damsbo for guessing this very blurry screenshot from the film "Ah, Wilderness" ( 1933 ) starring Eric Linden and Lionel Barrymore. In this scene, the band is playing in the park just after announcing some special festivities for the upcoming Fourth of July celebration.
"Ah Wilderness!" (1935).
ReplyDeleteTrivia: The gazebo in the park was built by MGM, but subsequently gifted to the city of Grafton, Massachusetts, where the scene was filmed. It is in use to this day in Grafton Commons.
Spot on, Martin! And what an interesting bit of trivia! I wonder if the street where Eric Linden and Cecilia Parker walk in the film looks just as lovely these days. My sister and I watch Ah, Wilderness every year on Independance Day. :-)
