The Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game

Gadzooks! This screenshot could be from any film! Aside from the man looking like John Glenn, there are hardly any clues here to even help in identifying this scene - but if you have a crackerjack memory, perhaps you'll guess it anyway. Give it a try!

The Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game

Now here's a distinguished looking fellow... and he is obviously watching something or someone in the distance. We'll let you ponder what that something could be and who this handsome young man is. If you ponder long enough, you'll remember what film this screenshot is from - and then you'll leave a comment below so everyone will know that you know, or think you know what you know.

GAME OVER.

Congratulations to Martin for correctly identifying this screenshot from "The Hound of the Baskervilles" (1939), one of 20th Century Fox's Sherlock Holmes installments starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. In this scene, John Stapleton (Morton Lowry) spies on his sister across the moor.

The Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game

This screenshot has such a beautiful coloring to it, so springlike, I just couldn't resist posting it as our monthly Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game entry.... although it really isn't impossibly difficult, especially if you know who this actress is!

The Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game

What could have caused such a pileup! These cars were evidently distracted by something or someone to crash into each other.... we'll leave it to you to figure out how this happened. All you have to do is remember the movie this scene came from and you'll know how these cars crashed.

The Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game

Here's a motley band of merrymakers - the fair maiden will soon give away the winning prize to a brave contestant who will defeat a knight.

GAME OVER.

Congratulation to Damsbo for correctly identifying this scene from "Herbie Rides Again" (1974)! Herbie aka The Love Bug was taking Stefanie Powers and Ken Barry for a scary run at the Ye Chicken Tournament jousting event. Like the good "little car" that he was, he ran headlong into the Red Knight and ran him off the track.

The Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game

Even with this man's face in full view, this month's Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game is especially tricky so, because of that, we are offering two prizes instead of one!

If you are the first to identify this screenshot, then in addition to a vintage photo of your choice from our online stores, you will also receive Connie's latest book - Classic Films: Famous and Forgotten Films (1930-1985) which for the moment is only purchasable through direct order.  It is packed with over 50 film reviews collected from nearly 13 years of writing this blog. We wish we could offer it to all countries, but it is only available to US and UK residents due to shipping restrictions.

The Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game

This month we have a really tricky screenshot to share... not because the scene is particularly hard but rather because the screenshot is so fuzzy! This woman appears in motion because she wouldn't stand still long enough to get a decent "shot" at. Anyway, we are sure some of our keen-eyed readers will guess this one quick enough regardless.

The Impossibly Difficult Name that Movie Game

If this game was called Guess the Occupation, it would take no stretch of the imagination to guess what this fellow does for a living, but our game is a little trickier - you have to guess the film this screenshot came from. We'll give you a hint: it is from a black-and-white movie.

This dapper gentleman is smiling at something...or someone. Doesn't he look familiar? We know what film this screenshot is from and even then we can't place where we saw him before!

Congratulations to the Tactful Typist for correctly identifying this scene from "Charlie Chan in Panama" (1940). In this scene, Godley (Addison Richards) is keeping an eye on the passengers coming off the clipper ship and heading to Panama City (note the Panama Airways clue!).

Now here's a tricky one... a man, a horse, and a fence. Bet you haven't seen many movies with that threesome!

Congratulations to Martin for correctly identifying this screenshot from the comedy "Guest Wife" (1945) starring Don Ameche and Claudette Colbert. This is Clyde Fillmore looking like the befuddled businessman that he played as he wonders what Don Ameche will utter next.

Here's a happy policeman...we know what he is grinning at, but do you? You really don't have to know, all you have to do is guess what film this is from - that's the name of the game, and that's why it is so impossibly difficult!
