Every year on the day before we take our Christmas tree down, we watch The Moon-Spinners (1964). It's such a lovely tradition and I don't even recall how it started, but this is one of my favorite scenes in the film. Nikki (Hayley Mills) and Mark (Peter McEnery) spend the night in the ruins of a Greek temple inhabited by stray cats. In the morning, they meet the helpful Anthony Gamble (John Le Mesurier).

I really like the first two DISNEY movies that HAYLEY MILLS did. POLLYANNA with JANE WYMAN and THE PARENT TRAP with BRIAN KEITH and MAUREEN O'HARA. CLASSIC TV FAN
ReplyDeleteDon't forget That Darn Cat...that's a good one, too!
DeleteI love, love this movie. Both Hayley Mills and Peter McEnery are favourites of mine and the island of Crete also provides a lovely background. Thanks for reminding me of the movie as I think I’ll watch the dvd tonight.

Good choice! I love watching Disney films on Saturday nights and this one really does have a great atmosphere. Mary Stewart wrote so many wonderful books, too bad Disney did not turn some of her other novels into films.... or at least make another Grecian mystery. :-)
DeleteI agree. A number of Mary Stewart’s books would make great movies.

I watch The Moon Spinners at least once a year! Great to watch summery scenes of Greece during a Canadian winter!
