GAME OVER.
Congratulations to Damsbo for correctly identifying this screenshot from the 1932 Rouben Mamoulian film "Love Me Tonight" starring Maurice Chevalier and Jeanette MacDonald. In this scene, Maurice has just saddled up to the wild horse Solitude and is about to embark on his first stag-hunt.
Grand Illusion
ReplyDeleteGreat guess! That's not the film but you are close with the French connection.
DeleteIs it a scene from the movie Rules of the Game/La règle du jeu?
ReplyDeleteBetty
No, not quite that French, Betty...we only post American and British film captures for these puzzles since they would be extra impossible if foreign titles were included as well! Hint: a French actor is the star of this film.
DeleteWith that las hint in mind, I'll risk a guess on "Les Visiteurs du Soir" (1942).
ReplyDeleteNo Martin, it's not a foreign film...it's American, but with a French actor in the lead. :-)
DeleteMeant to say the 1934 version of the movie with Mr. Chevalier.
DeleteIs it Rules of the Game?
ReplyDeleteBetty
Is it Gigi with Louis Jourdan? Speaking of French actors.
ReplyDeleteBetty
No Betty, not Gigi. That film was shot in beautiful Technicolor...but you are hot on the trail! An actor from Gigi starred in this picture.
DeleteOne more guess: The Merry Widow, 1937, with Maurice Chevalier.
DeleteOh so close! ( Psst...you can guess again Betty, we're not counting)
Delete😀
DeleteOh, I have it now: "Love Me Tonight" (1932)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the hints :)
That's the film, Martin! Even with the hints, it was a tricky one so congratulations on guessing it. Let me know how many games you've won so far because you have some photos due to you. :-)
